Attendance Policy:

The school day begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday.

TARDY: A student is considered tardy if he/she is not in their class by 8:15 am. Continued tardiness will necessitate a conference with the parents/guardians and the administrator/teacher, possibly leading to revocation of student privileges or suspension. The student must bring a note from his/he parent/guardian, before the student will be admitted to class. A tardy is one resulting from an illness, family tragedy, automobile accident, or temporary breakdown. Oversleeping or getting a late start is an UNEXCUSED tardy. Excessive tardiness will result in discipline. When a student is marked tardy three days in a nine week quarter the student will be considered tardy one day.

ABSENCE: Attendance is required of all students who are enrolled at Faith Education Academy-unless illness or an emergency prevents attendance. On the day of the absence, IT IS MANDATORY that the parents phone the school to notify the supervisor of the child’s absence. Students who have been absent must present a written excuse to their supervisor/administrator from their parent/guardian upon returning to school. An excused absence is one resulting from illness or death in the family. No student should be absent for more than 21 days of school per year. More than 21 days of absence will lead to possible retention. If a student missed more than 21 days, a doctor’s note will be REQUIRED and his/her case will be reviewed by the administration.

Dismissal: If a student need to be dismissed early, he/she must bring a note stating the reason and the time he/she needs to leave, to be shown to the administration and supervisor. If a students needs to be dismissed as a driver , the parent must do the same as above . A student must be in the classroom for a minimum for four hours a school day to be counted present.

Parents/guardians are expected to pick-up their children immediately upon dismissal. A student left 15 minutes after dismissal may be charged a $5.00 per hour for any portion of an hour.

Medical Guidelines: No staff member will be allowed to administer any medications without authorization in writing. All medications shall be kept and administered by the staff. If the student has a fever or some contagious condition, he/she should not be allowed to attend school until the condition has cleared. The school or staff will not be responsible for any accidents that occur during a medical disorder; such as, seizures, epilepsy, or any other medical problem causing a lack of consciousness.

Discipline: Faith Education Academy is not a corrective institution; consequently, we ask that a child not be enrolled with the idea that he/she will be reformed. We are here to work with the home, but not to take the place of parents who have experienced difficulty in fulfilling their jobs. All new students are admitted on probation for the first six weeks of attendance. The student must at all time conduct himself/herself in a manner of becoming a lady or gentleman. Griping is not tolerated!

Homework: The responsibility for scholastic achievement is placed on students. Most students should not need to take academic homwork home. The goals set by the students and reviewed by the supervisor usually are not more than the student is capable of competing during the school day. Should the student not meet his/her goals for the day, he/she will be required, at the discretion of the supervisor, to complete the work at home or afterschool in his/her classroom. Should the student have to take academic work home, a homework slip will be stapled to the work the student must complete at home. The slip is to be signed by the parent and returned to school the next school day. If homework is not completed, completion is left up to the discretion of the supervisor.

Parental Involvement: Parent orientation, meetings, and conferences promote a good understanding between parents/guardians and the faculty/administration of Faith Education Academy. Every parent is required to participate in these informative and helpful programs.

Fire and Tornado Drills: Practice fire drills will be held during the school year. When the alarm sounds students will stand and march ot of the building in an orderly manner to the designated meeting place. At the instruction of the administrator/supervisor the students may return to the classroom in the same orderly manner.

Field Trips: Special trips are taken during the school year. Children may be charged a small fee to help offset bu expenses and entry fees. The students will not be allowed to participate in the trip if the student fails to provide a signed permission slip, prior to the trip.

Telephone: The school phone is reserved for official school business and emergencies. Students desiring to place a call must ask for their supervisor’s permission. NO CELL PHONES or electronics will be allowed in the school. If a student is caught with any type of electrical device, it will be taken and a parent must pick it up. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
